Judy Mendel

I was raised in the mountains, not far from Lake Tahoe. It was a great childhood – skiing, swimming, hiking – nature’s wonderland! I went to Santa Clara University, with Junior year abroad at University of Vienna (Best year of my life!). I sold Real Estate in San Francisco for 10 years and we moved to Sonoma after starting a family. 

My stay-at-home mom status did not last long, as I love to work. I was hired by the Fairmont Sonoma Mission Inn as their Concierge, in charge of creating guest itineraries for their stays with us. I had to familiarize myself with all of the wineries, restaurants and points of interest in the area. That is how I met P.J. and Robert.  A tour guide (John Burdick) took me to their home for a special tasting and lunch.I was hooked!  The great wine, beautiful view and hospitable hosts impressed me, so I started sending all of our guests to Deerfield Ranch.

I really loved my job at the hotel, so stayed there about 13 years, getting my “Clef d’or” (gold keys) in the process. That is the highest goal for all concierge, so…why not? I retired and started traveling more.

I have been fortunate to have explored many countries with my family.   But, one cannot be on the road all of the time, so I decided to get a part-time job.  I called P.J. and luckily, she needed someone in the Tasting Room.

So, here I am.  Part time has expanded to full time (office and Tasting Room), so you can find me here, unless I am gone on an adventure.  I love introducing our loyal customers to our wonderful “clean” wine.  The Reds are my favorite!
